2 day accredited training in VIG to prepare for starting supervised practice. In both days there will be a balance of information-giving with varied opportunities to actively practice choosing video highlights and looking at skills in sharing these edited highlights through skills practice. The live practice work will take place in small groups of up to 5, where everyone will take their turn to actively learn new skills.
Intended Audience
Professionals from Cornwall Council’s Together For Families services who will deliver VIG as part of their current role: Health Visiting, Foundations For Life, Early Support, Family Help, Disabled Children’s Therapy service, Educational Psychology Service and Early Years’ Service as well as Cornwall’s Mental Health in Schools Team. TFF staff should also sign up via The Learning Hub to add to your CC training record.
Any other external applicants planning to start supervised VIG work are welcome to apply. All applicants will initially be placed on a waiting list – this does not mean that the course is full.
You need to attend both days in order to qualify for progression of training within the AVIGuk accredited trainee practitioner pathway.

Course times 9.15 a.m. til 4.30 pm
Cost
Free for Cornwall Council Together for Families staff and those who have a training contract with the VIG service.
External applicants £450 or £400 pp for more than 1 member of the same team.
Venue
St Austell Information Services, Chi Austel - fully accessible location with car parking in the multi story car park for White River or in the town car parks. The train station is a short walk away.
Tea and coffee making facilities will be available. There are a few local shops if you want to buy lunch on the day or you can bring your own. There is a kitchen with microwave that you can use.

Once you have enrolled, handouts and pre-course reading materials will be available to you via the AVIGuk website. No paper copies will be provided at the event.
This will be face to face training only.
All trainees who decide to continue into supervised practice will be charged a registration fee of £180 by AVIGuk to be paid by their own service.
